Plenty of bosses that can instakill you on any difficulty, and some boss modifiers in certain boss arenas can be downright unfair (anyone who has come across the Trapper mod in a close-quarters arena will tell you the same thing). Difficulty can feel overtuned at times, even on lower difficulties. Granted, you can reset as many times as you want to try again, but I'd seriously recommend playing the game with a guide open at all times. Ridiculously easy to miss/lock yourself out of obtaining important items. They even let your friends play through DLC with you if you own the DLC and they don't Combat and RPG elements/character builds are incredibly solid, and make the core gameplay loop fun no matter what. Similarly, if you enjoy searching for secrets through convoluted goose chases, this game has no shortage of that.If you enjoy a game that offers a ton of replay value, Remnant 2 is essentially built with replaying in mind. The game has its faults for sure, but it knows its audience very well. I've put over 150 hours in over a few months of playing. Remnant has been great because Gunfire has a direction in mind and the clear focus to get there without trying to pander to one part of the community or another (casuals vs hardcores). Truthfully, the relationship between D2 and the community is toxic and pretty abusive. I’m not even worried about sunk cost fallacy, I recognize the game stands a great chance of servers being off within a year or two of the game officially ending if we’re lucky. It was easier to give up on the game within the first year or two of D2, but once you’re deep enough into the story it becomes wanting to see things through. Any friend I’ve tried to get into the game I’ve had to walk them through menus and give a brief story overview, which takes longer than the intro to the game. When D2’s “base game” went F2P, I was hoping it would bring in a bunch of new kinderguardians (err… New Lights), but as they started cutting content the onboarding for the game just got worse and worse. I have had seasons where I’ve been burnt out hard, and seasons where I played almost nothing else.
